This is Noah Webster, author of the famous speller and dictionary. He lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. This statue of him graces the entrance to Blue Back Square in his native town.

We had a Webster's Dictionary when I was a child but the spelling wa all American thereby Wrong for the Australian Education system of the time. I was brought up using the Oxford English Dictionary! LoL
