Sandy
Here in central Connecticut, we dodged the bullet. Our power flickered on and off, but in the end it stayed on. Some branches down, but nothing on anything critical. Our daughter, Sierra, goes to Fairfield University down by the coast. She came home before the storm along with her Roommate, Maria, who lives in Puerto Rico. The town of Fairfield suffered tremendous losses, including houses which were washed out into Long Island Sound. The college was closed for the week, so we had the girls here for the duration. They went back today (I miss them!) Hardest for me is looking at what happened on Staten Island. That's where I grew up. I am just heartsick seeing the devastation of my home town. I have family there. Fortunately, none has had terrible damage, although the mother of one of my nieces lost her house. Most of then are still without power, along with my brother in New Jersey. So I've been just in another place emotionally.

I was in your position during the Brisbane Foods that effected everybody so severely.
ReplyDeleteSo much devastation. Our thoughts are with everyone who was in the path of this destructive storm.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to everyone affected by this storm. Sorry your hometown was part of the devestation.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that your childhood haunts were affected by old Sandy. It is so sad looking at the devastation, knowing it will never be the same again.
