First Snow

We were surprised to wake to the sound of a snow plow this morning. Even in New England, this is early for snow. We hope it's not a portent. This was the view out our kitchen window.

Rain

Rain on the window creates an Impressionistic effect. Taken with the iPhone, the photo had PhotoBag's Helga filter applied. I also made some subtle adjustments with Mill Colour.

On Friday, we walked out to the Saugerties Lighthouse, a squat brick building that sits on a point jutting into the Hudson River. Apparently, the lighthouse is still active, and a keeper and his/her family lives there. They have a geranium in their window. The reds of the potted plant and the brick stood out in my eye, so I accentuated them by desaturating all the other colors.

The Mosaic filter is another that I never thought I'd use; but when I chanced upon it this afternoon, I just liked the way it seemed to play up the weathered look of the window. It seemed to "age" the rest of the garage to match. I added a bit of Red Tint to tone down the original colors to go along with the ageing effect.

This is the side of our garage. The siding is relatively new (as in 30 years), but the garage itself is considerably older. The battered window shows its age.
