Funky filters can do some unexpected things. This is Neon Glow, of all things. Somehow it ehnances the patterns in the ice and defines the edges more sharply.

A wintry mix again...Though it's awful for driving and we live in dread of a power failure when there's freezing rain, it can be mysteriously and undeniably beautiful when ice coats the branches.

Now it looks like an Edward Gorey print! I used the Graphic Pen filter on a layer over the orignal, at about 70% opacity.

On the other hand, it is a good excuse to play with some of the funkier filters and other fun stuff. This is the Plastic Wrap filter used with the Luminostity blend mode The end result looks (to me)something like a decorated terra cotta tile, which to my fevered imagination puts me in mind of Tuscany. I've never been to Tuscany, but it sounds warm, so I'll take this opportunity to pretend I'm there.

On a Monday of lowering skies, when the agenda is to go from home to the gym to work to home, getting back after dark...one does have to be creative in finding images. I may have been scraping the bottom of the barrel. This is a shot of the glass blocks in the changing room at the gym.

The Dark Strokes filter seems to intensify the feeling of bleak cold.
