I tried to show Brisbane Queensland, and Sydbet, Darwin and Hobart over the years, but how can I hope to compete with the Big Apple, I'd need to live in London to do that and who could stand all those Pomms! LoL Love your Iconic image.
Just love this shot, Bobbie. The muted colors had me thinking it was done in post processing...nice to hear that it was the result of time of day. Great composition.
@Helen--I could hardly believe the light myself as I was standing on the street. I've never seen anything quite like it in NYC--light there is usually harsh, intense, almost graphic even in the "golden hour." But on this corner at that time, there was soft, warm cast--people have been describing it as old-fashioned. I was SO lucky to be there! The only processing I did was to bring it to as close to the way I saw it--just minor adjustments to contrast and tone.
Like the lighting you managed to capture in this one, Bobbie. Lucky you, with access to wonderful urban photo ops like this one and the Relationships one. Living in a small town doesn't lend itself to as many opportunities - but will try!
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.
Love the muted colors you capture here, a wonderful perspective!

ReplyDeleteThis has an old-timey feel to it.
ReplyDeletebeautiful shot, I agree with Val, looks like a shot out of the '50's or at least before the highrises took over..
ReplyDeleteVery nice muted coloring to give this a timeless feeling.

ReplyDeleteBut for the cars you'd swear in was 1930's New York. Great shot -- lot of nostalgia feel
