Fancy

Actor William Gillette's fancy was wanting to live in a partially ruined castle. There being none of these in Connecticut, he built one of his own. When he died, he didn't want it to go to a "blithering saphead," so he left it to the State to be a park. It still looms over the Connecticut River. The photo was taken from the Chester-Hadlyme ferry using Photo+.

Emptiness

At this point, the old factory building near our home is empty. The weeds growing by the doorway and the battered windows stand as testimony to the emptiness. Not for long! John & I got caught trespassing today as we explored the back of the property...but (perhaps because we are old farts) instead of being driven off or arrested, we were given a private tour of the part of the building that's been developed. It's absolutely stunning what they are making of what was once just a moldering ruin. The photo was taken & processed in Photo+.

Primary colors

A bed of these happy flowers brightens the entrance to the town library. Frame and the barest minimum of touch up added with PhotoGene. This is the first photo taken with my new iPhone 4. Could be my fevered imagination, but it seems brighter & crisper to me than the earlier shots.

Rough

On our way home from a camping trip to Maine, we had a brief respite at a truck stop. I used Hipstamatic to capture this powerful road warrior.
