Happiness is...

...finding the right Christmas tree. We had raw, windy, gusty rain today--downpours at times--so not the best day to take the wagon ride through the woods and up the hill to cut our own as we usually do. But we also needed to get the tree this weekend, so that it will be up when our grandson comes to celebrate an early Christmas with us on Wednesday. We decided to get it at Stew Leonard's, a store that specializes in fresh meats, seafood and produce. We do most of our grocery shopping there. Despite the gloomy weather, spirits were high, and we found the perfect compact tree to fit into our cozy little house.

  1. to get the perfect tree is always difficult and especially when you get it directly from the woods. Here it's to much snow, we cannot get out in the woods to fetch one this year. Nice photo with feeling

  3. In the midwest I thought it was a rule that you had to get your tree in the worst possible weather. I like the reflections in this.

  4. I'd suggest growing one in your front yard and use it every year, saves on baby trees, LOL

Tried Wordpress but No Go! back to google.

  5. What a great capture of people getting their tree for the holiday! Have you ever been to Stew Leonard's in Norwalk? That is the first store. It was originally a dairy which they have expanded over the years.

  6. The Photo brought back childhood memories of choosing the tree back in the 50's. The place is all torn down and renewed and modernized, but the memories are still there and I can remember the family car, the old pine smell, the chain of lights on the tree lot ,the slushy streets, the old fashioned avenue light pole decorations and the excited kids there with their families.
    Thanks for the memories, Bobbie!

  8. I was getting all nostalgic about picking out Christmas Trees... until I saw the price! Yikes! I guess I have put one up in a long time.

I like the angle that you took this photo... tells a the story of choosing the tree as well as the weather. And by the number of people in red, I would say they are well staffed for the crowd.

I hope you show us the decorated tree.
