I usually have a host of daffodils in my yard, but this year most of them were lagging behind and hadn't yet bloomed...and today the Lawn Dude mowed them down. Only this one and its companion, which are planted way out back, survived. It's past its prime, but it has character.
he does have character, quite a few of our tulips and daffs didn't bloom this year, but we did get to enjoy the ones that did,we don't have a Lawn Dude...obviously not a gardener! Very pretty photo though...
Looks like a survivor....I lost many of my tulips and daffys to hail last week!...such weird weather! Especially after the winter that wasn't...which was hard on things too. Will hope for a better showing next spring!
Think it's well to examine the beauty that's still left in the fading blooms. Wish I could remember the name of the photographer who created a beautiful book with less than perfect flowers. May have to see what google can come up with.
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.

ReplyDeleteSo so pretty and love the fine details on the wilted petals!
ReplyDeleteOurs lasted no time at all this year....
ReplyDeleteI love flowers on the way out, this is lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhilst you all to the east were having record breaking warm the left coast was way colder than norm- that made what deigned to bloom last a long time.
beautiful in its old age - may next spring bring profusion for you
