When I was a little girl, I lived in Manhattan and then Brooklyn, places where the sky is too small to hold a rainbow. I thought that oil slick rainbows on the street were among the most lovely sights. I have to confess that even now that I know they are pollution, they have their own compensatory beauty.

I grew up with the odd rainbow and have never seen an oil slick rainbow, it is quite beautiful, this one looks like a cartoon character....
ReplyDeleteHa Ha the only pretty thing about Oil Slicks.
ReplyDeleteI love the pyschedellic colors...pollution can be beautiful too! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot....love that shape
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if that would look cool as one of those metal prints that people were talking about...think it might have been Mike A., Tami, Ellen or Val???
ReplyDeleteGreat job capturing the colors and design. It's really not as easy to do as it seems it should be.
ReplyDeleteLovely colorful abstract art!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the 60's -- Jimi Hendrix, the Filmore Auditorium. Great eye and thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteWonderful take on the theme, Bobbie and just love the shape and colours in this one.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter was just admiring one the other day!
ReplyDeleteThis is a most artful sight of pollution. As a child I also enjoyed the rainbows on the water created by motor boats.
ReplyDeleteFun shot. I have loved some oil slicks in my time, this does look like it could have been tie-dyed.
ReplyDeleteI used to love looking at these also...how good to be young and oblivious!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child though not living in Brooklyn but in countryside I admired those oil-colors, too.
