Sizzling hot

These chili peppers--which are growing upstairs in an AeroGarden in my "Mom cave"--are sizzling hot. Put two of them in a pot of chili or a stir fry, and it'll have a nice bite. A few more and you're at the "five star, no refund" level. BTW this is the first finished photo take with my new D-SLR. As someone suggested, I'm spending time learning one feature at a time. This was the Macro mode.

I truly felt for Tammy when she reported snow. Winter has its place, but October ain't it. By this evening, it had moved east--a wet snow was falling as I drove home from work. I went out to the garden and picked all the hot peppers that were still on the plants. It was a pretty good harvest. We'll have a few fresh; the rest I'll dry. One this grey gloomy evening, their fresh greens and vibrant reds are a lingering remnant of a summer that brushed by us only briefly. Poster Edges and desaturating the basket make the colors sing.

Yesterday was raw and rainy, a perfect afternoon for having a roast chicken in the oven. That mean left over chicken for dinner tonight. I made corn tortillas; simmered the bits of chicken with tomato, chopped chili pepper and herbs; and sauteed peppers and onions as a topper. The Cut Out filter creates a poster effect.

These are the hot peppers I've got growing in pots flanking the front walkway. A combination of Colored Pencil and Watercolor allows the peppers and the leaves to stand out.

Saturdays means the town Farmers' Market. One of the stands had these colorful hot peppers. A combination of Colord Pencil and Dark Strokes turns them into a playful drawing where they look like they're being tossed in the air.

Saturdays are for food shopping. These neatly aligned peppers were at Whole Foods. I like the cotrast between the orange of the flesh and the green of the stalks. A combination of the Smudge Stick and Posterize Edges filters emphasized it.

Thanks to Julie for her suggestion about putting two photos in one post. I had actually tried that in the beginning, and my Internet connection just froze up. I'm giving it another go--if it works...well, then, the fact that this is here means it worked!
