Solitary

One feels solitary under the vast sky and open spaces of what was once the prairie. To our Eastern eyes and minds, it is both awe-inspiring and unsettling. Here the sun sets in Kansas behind tonight's campground in Russel. Processing was done in Iris PhotoSuite.

  3. When I first saw the wide open FLAT spaces in the Midwest, I was overwhelmed and felt totally exposed to the elements. Over the years of visits to my Illinois relatives, I've come to appreciate and love the beauty of it.

  5. You caught the feeling of vastness so well at sundown. I felt the same way when visiting the midwest from California.

  6. Love the colors! Solitary is probably a good way to describe driving for miles(?) with that landscape - at least that is how imagine it from your photo.
