Flower/Depth of Field

I used the Lensbaby Muse with the macro kit--both lenses stacked--to create a dramatic DOF that brings out only two petals of this very tiny flower.

Camera: Canon EOS T3, Lensbaby Muse with macro kit Processing: PSE, minor adjustments

  3. I was just trying some flower macros....without the macro...this morning. We are in Key West for awhile and it's so nice seeing the flowers!

  6. A sweet sweet spot, is that a pepper flower? How do you like the macro kit? I've wondered about it.

  8. @Ellen: I've always had an interest in macro photography. I now have the opportunity to indulge in it. I am truly enjoying the macro kit. I'm not sure which "optic" you have, but I use the Muse. Macro is tricky with the Muse, because there's no way to lock in the focus. But if I set the ISO high (1600 indoors with good light--I don't have a flash at this point), the shutter speed is fast, so there' not much motion blur. I use a tripod if possible, but if not, I just try to brace my arms and hold my breath when I take the shot. And I squeeze off a lot of them so as to be sure to get a few keepers. I think it's worth the investment.
