Our granddude, Aidan, was over for a visit. We toasted marshmallow at the fire pit in our garden. Joyously he told us, "This is the best day ever! With marshmallows!" OMG--bliss for me, too. Nothing beats grandchildren! 365/2011
I don't want children, but I like the idea of grandchildren. I haven't figured out yet how to do that. Last year some of my BBQs include marshmallow roasting. I'll have to start that up again this year.
You can't beat the exuberance of a child at a marshmallow roast! I still carry the burn scars on my fingers from when I was 7-8 and the burning sugar bomb flew off my friend's stick, and I wear them with pride!
I second your sentiment. Grandchildren are the best! A reward for raising children, I think. To Gisele: I think there must be some child around who would love to have a "foster grandma" like you. Scorched marshmallows are a real treat!
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.

ReplyDeleteLove the glow of the fire in his face...nothing like a sticky marshmellow to bring a smile to a kid's face!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me almost as happy as that sweet granddude, how fun!
