Primary colors

This is what has replaced the venerable card catalog. I understand why, but there is a certain loss.

  1. That's progress for you, but I have to say that card catalogues were the bane of my early working life and I was glad to see them go. I even managed to take home 2 lovely wooden filing cabinets to grace my desk at home and be a constant reminder of what a pain filing really was.

  2. I have to admit I like using the computer better then the card catalog, but for me, E-Readers will never replace an actual book.

  4. I think Dewey Decimal weeps at this. Lovely colors but the loss of the finger walk.

  5. Concerning books, I agree with Kim, but having card catalogs in some circumstances may be helpful.

  6. Hi Bobbie,
It's not fun when the electritcy goes out. Then you have to revert back to the card catalogs. But do people even remember how to use them? Have a great day!

  7. I miss the card catalogs also, but the computer makes it so much easier to find that elusive book. A e-reader will never replace holding a book.

  8. Card catalogs might be charming but practical - not, unless we lack electricity ofcourse :-)as for books I'm all for real ones as I tend to fall asleep just listening to one and then I have trouble finding the way back to before I fell asleep...... ;-)

  10. I love the memories associated with the card catalogs more than the catalogs themselves. The library was such a wonderful place to spend hot summer days after a swim at the pool. I loved the Black Stallion series and mysteries and met my best girlfriend there who I felt lived in the perfect house...only a block from the library!
