It's all part of the surreal packaging at the massive Oprylands Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee--including a quarter mile indoor river that even features boat rides. 365/2011
We did pay the exorbitant price of $9 apiece to ride the boat. The hotel is unbelievably massive. The glass dome over it is 15 stories high. The ballroom can seat 7000 people. One of the exhibit halls once featured a Black Hawk helicopter. There is a mansion IN the hotel that features a restaurant. The suite where Dolly Parton stays is bigger thant house!
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.
Reminds me of the Venetian hotel in Vegas, where you can ride a gondola through their river.
ReplyDeleteDid you take a ride?
ReplyDeleteIf the indoor river is a quarter mile long, the hotel must be huge.

ReplyDeleteI love that your processing adds to the surreal feel. Looks a bit like the dreaded mall on steroids and LSD!
ReplyDeleteYour photo really gives a massive look to this space...would be a fun place to see. Spose Dolly needs a large suite in order to contain all her wigs!
ReplyDeleteWas it like It's a Small World boat ride, where you wanted to jump off to escape something hideous? And were there Minnie Pearl hats for sale?
