Self Portrait

I've kept a journal since I was 17. Any real self-portrait would be found there.

I was given my first camera--the kind you looked down into--when I was five. I fell in love with photography then, and it's has been a passion ever since. The arrival of consumer level photo editing software galvanized my interest, because now I could make the pictures look just like what my eye saw or my imagination envisioned when I clicked the shutter.

The picture of the journal was taken with my Kodak Z915; the one of myself with the iPhone using the Self Image app (which I downloaded just today for this project!) They were assembled in Elements.

  1. Oh, Bobbie, this is super!! Love the composition and the great editing. I, too, love all the creative software out there that helps me enhance my photos. So good to see you and get to know you a little better. (Love your smile, too)

  4. A very creative idea and a wonderful composite. I, too, am very impressed that you have journaled for such a long time. It must be wonderful and sometimes bittersweet, also,to look back on the journal and see your feelings from so long ago. I have tried to keep journals, and I prize my small efforts, but I am just a visual person, I guess. Picture taking is so much easier.

  8. What a clever image for your self-portrait! Combining two interests that document life is notable. Looking back at both the journals and the photos can really enhance one's life.

  10. This is really a "double" self portrait!! I applaud you for keeping a journal all this time. It's something that I have talked about doing and I've never kept one more than 3 or 4 days. Great idea for this project.
