The crack in the ice in the top photo leads right to the odd brick building, directing the eye across the surface towards it and its reflection in the water. The Rule of Thirds also applies here, giving two reasons for the top picture to be more effective.
I like the top picture too. I would have cropped it in the front taking away the bank. I find that a little distracting by drawing my eye in the other direction.
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.
I LOVE the top image...that crack leading the eye to the building is stupendous...what a find and what a gorgeous scene!

ReplyDeleteYou're tight about the back. I did cut back on it; but I should have had the guts to cut it out altogether.
