I love the photo! We had a recent revamping of our main library and the stacks were done away with. The new design was meant to be on the style of cafe/bookstores. When one walks in there is nothing but chrome, glass ,technology and Echo-y NOISE. All that is missing is the register and the smell of coffee. The days of the stern-faced lady peering over her chained specs shushing talkers and gum poppers listening to concealed I-pods are over. 'Study' is a group free-for-all around someone's wi-fi laptop. It seems like people go there for the internet and audio... all genres. Where have the books gone? Your excellent photo asks the question on the minds of so many who love to hold that hard copy in their hands and read in peace and quiet! Especially those old, well worn editions found in the stacks. Sorry about the vent, but the photo brought it to the fore. Excellent,Bobbie! C.
I like the fact that a windsor chair is the empty chair in the back of the library. The windsor chair is a classic, one to sit in while reading classics.
I love this...brings back memories of library visits as a child. I too am a print book LOVER and love the feel, smell, and illustrations of a real book. Your photo evokes a beautiful mood-empty isn't always lonely or sad if filled with a book or two!
Even though everyone got here before me, I can tell that chair is just waiting for me. Libraries are a favorite place; so calm and safe and reassuring.
Great shot, Bobbie. And you can tell that from the way it brought out your readers' love of libraries.
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.
I really like how the vignette really lights up that chair...I can feel the emptiness of the area!
ReplyDeleteLooks full of History and takes galore to me!
ReplyDeleteDang! You missed my Aunt Betsy again! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like this shot. Perfect use of a vignette.
I agree - the vignette really works on this shot
ReplyDeleteI like how you made it look "glowy." Don't know how else to describe it. Great fulfillment of the theme.
ReplyDeletelove the focus on this it draws you right into the photo
ReplyDeleteYour processing puts the eye right where you want it. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter could be there underneath his invisibility cloak, just a thought...the vignette works very well to draw our attention to the spot.
ReplyDeleteso many empty things in a library full of books, it's nice.
ReplyDeletethe focus is right on with the vignette
ReplyDeleteHi Bobbi,
ReplyDeleteYep, definitely empty. I could sit there for hours reading in the quietness. Have a great day!
