Traditionally, cafes were considered to be places for conversation; now hust as often, people sit in isolation with their computers or other electronic devices.
I always laugh when I see this (which is often)...I swear the younger generation is not going to know how to communicate w/out a computer or cell phone lol
Next you must take a downtown capture of people walking down the street with mobile phones up to their head...oblivious to the person directly in their oncoming path,talking on their phone as well. c.
Your composition and treatment really highlights the disconnect from the subject's surroundings. I wonder when they get up to leave if they're surprised to see others there. LOL You're right-coffee shops used to be about connecting. That is still seen occasionally. But, sometimes I think the young people who use these places are perhaps between work and school or cannot afford the internet at home. I'm trying to figure how these places make money with people only buying coffee and hanging for hours.

...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.
That shot definitely conveys isolation. I usually find working surrounded by people to be too distracting.
