Slam on the brakes

Yesterday, as I was driving home from work, I came around a curve beyond the big pillars of the overpass, and there was this train coming at me! The tracks aren't used often and there are no warning lights. It wasn't blowing its whistle. I slammed on the brakes, avoiding being the lead item on the local news.

  1. Bobbie! That is so scary! I'm glad that you did manage to keep your wits about you well enough to a) not get hit and b) take a fantastically neat photo. I'm just not so sure you should take the themes so literarily.

  4. Yikes! Hard to believe they don't have those warning lights and arms. The blur does add a lot of drama here...

  6. When locomotive meets automobile, locomotive wins. I'm glad your automobile didn't meet up with the locomotive! Nice blur - give a fearful feel to situation!

  8. Hmm...looks like an LMX B39-8E. That could put a world of hurt on one's car or person. Did you grab the camera before or after you slammed on the brakes?

  9. I have my handy iPhone next to me when I drive--I listen to books on it. AFTER I slammed on the brakes, I grabbed it and shot the train as it rounded the curve and went by me on the driver side. You can see a bit of the side mirror at the bottom of the photo.

  10. Great stop . . . and great capture! This is taking the themes to the limit.
