I used the Sumi-E filter for this one. I think it made it look like a pen and ink drawing, emphasizing the sense of lonliness. It might work well for the Abandonment theme.
I like this effect on this, but I think it takes away from the detail that I liked so much in the original. I love all the new techniques you are trying, it is fun to watch and follow!
I on the other hand prefer this one. The original is to stark for my tasks. By taking the edge off it makes the image more about the feeling of cold and loneliness and not about the exact place and time. By making it less real it makes it more universal.
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.

ReplyDeleteThis is another one where I like the original better. It's a good composition with great detail that captures the lonely feeling the scene evoked.
