It's light outside when I get out from work now, but the sun is still low enough to shift the sky to look like the inner curve of a dampened seashell. Combining the Posterize filter with the Pencil Sketch effect brings out the shifting colors of evening.

Paper Goods Pond is still covered in ice and snow. The bench is dedicated to my friend, Lisa, who died way too young of breast cancer. I always think of her now when I come to watch the pond changing with the seasons.

I used tow effects on this one: first, Old Paper, which added some texture to a fairly ordinary scene that had a lot of flat white; and then Blue Tint, to bring back the chill of late afternoon in the winter.

I have celiac disease, so I'm on a strict gluten free diet for life--that means not even a trace of wheat, rye or barley. When I was diagnosed in 2000, I thought I've never be able to eat in a pizzeria again. But times have changed! Iliano's, a small local chain, now offers GF pizza. I went there with my family tonight. The pizza was great; even better was getting to do something "normal" that I'd once thought would be impossible.

The Photocopy filter at a reduced opacity brings out the great graphics in pepperoni pizza.

On a winter evening, the air turns blue, and the snow chages from glistening white to deeper colors, and shadows gather on the undulating surface. The Watercolor filter deepens the shadows and gives the footsteps an almost sinister quality.

A foot of snow, and I'm sure there were great photo opportunities out there...but it was also wicked cold and a nasty wind blowing needles of sleet against one's skin. I'm no martyr! I stayed by the woodstove. Fire, it turns out, is an elusive subject for photography. This was the best shot I could get. Using the Color Fade effect (I always wondered what it might work for) and a high level Posterize brought out the spunky warmth of that single flame.

This vinca vine jumped the gun a little and has started to turn green. It didn't count on the vagaries of New England weather. Today's snow was just a dusting, but but tomorrow morning, this should be buried under over a foot of snow. The Sponge filter helped elicit the tenuous sense of hope held forth by this fragile spray of green.

Saturdays are for food shopping. These neatly aligned peppers were at Whole Foods. I like the cotrast between the orange of the flesh and the green of the stalks. A combination of the Smudge Stick and Posterize Edges filters emphasized it.

Thanks to Julie for her suggestion about putting two photos in one post. I had actually tried that in the beginning, and my Internet connection just froze up. I'm giving it another go--if it works...well, then, the fact that this is here means it worked!
