A foot of snow, and I'm sure there were great photo opportunities out there...but it was also wicked cold and a nasty wind blowing needles of sleet against one's skin. I'm no martyr! I stayed by the woodstove. Fire, it turns out, is an elusive subject for photography. This was the best shot I could get. Using the Color Fade effect (I always wondered what it might work for) and a high level Posterize brought out the spunky warmth of that single flame.

I think you did a great job of capturing the fire, Bobbie. Looks very cozy.
ReplyDeleteIn the conditions you described my fire would have been roaring, but then the photo would have been impossible. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image, think I like the lighting in the first image better! That looks so warm!!
ReplyDeleteNice to be warm and cozy in bad weather. Very nice shot.
ReplyDeleteLovely shot! I'm not a fan of snow and cold overall, but then I see a great shot like yours and get sort of nostalgic about being all holed up near the fire while the storm blows outside!
ReplyDeleteAh so warm and inviting, wish I had that at my house. I had 8 inches and it was 13 degress last night........brrrrrrrrrr. Love the flame and glow really does make me feel warmer.
ReplyDeleteThese are both beautiful images. I think I prefer the bottom image though. The light seems to bring out more of the colors in the log.
ReplyDeleteThe are both great, but I like the post-processed one better. Nice job, either way.
ReplyDeleteTwo warm images, fire seems hard to shoot to me- it moves, it blows out highlights and one can only get so close. You did well.
