Mini-Assignment: Balancing Elements

The ice on Paper Goods Pond hasn't melted yet, but it was a relatively warm day, so this evening ice fog formed. It's eerie. The bottom picture is a stright shot of the pond, the ice and the fog. The second adds balancing elements with the reed in the foreground and the goose flying over the fog near the back. In the third, there's just the reeds in the front, but they present a stronger prensence than the single reed in the middle shot.

  1. My favorite is the first image, I love the heavy reed in the forground leading to the fog and water, this is just perfectly balanced in my eyes and perfectly beautiful!

  3. I like how you built up to the final image in terms of elements in the images. The top image is beautiful. Very nicely done.

  4. That top photo is fabulous, Bobbie. The reeds on make a great frame for the rest of the image. The fog is such a good addition to the picture.

  5. Nice one, I like the first one best, with the reeds. The fog, you really captured it well.

  6. Thanks for posting the series, the first two of which seem to be excellent examples of balanced elements. What a pretty scene that fog created!

  7. Nice contrast of the reeds and the fog. The reeds do add nice balance to the shot.

  8. The concept here is wonderfully illustrated in the three shots. Not only that, but I love the first shot with the reeds on the right. Nice job.
