Athletic

Today was the culmination of March Madness at our town's middle school. During the month of March, the kids in each grade form teams & play against each other. Meantime, there's a penny drive & a read-a-thon to collect money. Each kid in the school chooses a charity, researches it & writes a "persuasive essay" in support of those causes. The winners have $500-$100 donated to their chosen charity. The event culminates in the top teams in each grade competing against their teachers. In the 14 years the program has been in place, these kids have raised $61,000 for charities that THEY have chosen. I was there today to accept a check forward on to the Celiac Disease Foundation.

  1. Good for them, and for having someone write a persuasive essay on behalf of a foundation true to you. The image is nice with the center of focus drawing us using the blur. I hope the person making the shot is a teacher, for he looks big for a middle schooler!

  7. Hi Bobbie,
Awesome picture for a memory book! That's a great idea for kids. They learn something and get to play. Awesome! Have a great day!

  8. What an excellent project for these adolescents. I'm big on character development being integrated into the curriculum in the early grades and helping children learn how to give back to the community is an important part of that.

I like the way you took this one too - the tilt-shift effect works well.
