July 11: Lake Itsaca State Park in Minnesota is the home of the Headwaters of the Mississippi River, where one can wades across the shallow stream that eventually becomes the mighty wateway. It's also the home of lovely Lady's Slippers like this one. Watercolor softens it without losing much of the detail.

  1. Oh so pretty! Feels like November here...lead-gray sky and chilly wind. It would be nice to be back in flower-weather July again!

  4. I haven't seen ladyslippers in ages. Such a soft and delicate blossom and you've done a wonderful job with the photo.
