July 14: On this day, we left Manitoba and drove across the Canadian Shield--a stark place riddled with lakes--following the Trans-Canada highway north of Lake Superior. We camped about half way bewteen Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. It rained the whole time. After we'd had diner, the rain tapered off to a drizzle, allowing up to go for a short walk around the very small campground. Along the way, we came upon this turtle. It looked so weary and ancient that Old Photo seems like the right treatment for it.
...is to fill 52 themes, one a week for the year. Some weeks, maybe I'll try to find several photos to fit the themes. Others, I may spend more time trying to perfect one that seems best to represent the theme. Three years of a photo-a-day opened my eyes, now I want to hone my skills.
Somehow, a camera allows me to see more deeply and awakens the eye. For me, undertaking these year-long challenges is a way to become more aware of the world that swirls around me.
For being an old guy, his shell is sure beautiful - nice choice of filters!
