July 14: On this day, we left Manitoba and drove across the Canadian Shield--a stark place riddled with lakes--following the Trans-Canada highway north of Lake Superior. We camped about half way bewteen Winnipeg and Thunder Bay. It rained the whole time. After we'd had diner, the rain tapered off to a drizzle, allowing up to go for a short walk around the very small campground. Along the way, we came upon this turtle. It looked so weary and ancient that Old Photo seems like the right treatment for it.
