R is for River

This is the Mattabesset River that flows through town. A dam on this small river forms Paper Goods Pond. Having grown up in NYC, where the Hudson is a River, it was hard for me to think of this little stream as a river. But so it is termed. Here it is, just beginning to freeze over as winter sets in.

  1. The ice should make it a Rock Hard River, and there is nothing like Hard Rock to float your boat!

  2. This is nice. It looks like a glossy painting. The ice forming is kind of sad, as I remember how long winter lasted for you this year.

  3. Beautiful image Bobbie ... the new ice looks so fragile for now.

  4. Ok, there are big rivers, normal rivers, small rivers and possibly very small rivers ... let'em be and run and becoming frozen. It's the same with the lakes. Where I live there is a pond callad a lake...

  5. Beautiful image with the fragile ice reflecting the trees.

  6. I like the muted colors of this, but I agree, this looks more like a little stream to me than a "river"

  7. Hope no one goes through the ice here. We have "rivers" like this here which are often preceded by the word "Big" in their name. Guess it's all relative! Beautiful mood captured here...rather dreamy, I think.
